[...] Those of you hoping to pick up a Rhok’delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers might be happy to know that the issues which were preventing the completion of this quest should now be resolved. It’s a good idea to keep in mind that even though this item is related to a level 60 quest line, that only level 80 characters will be eligible to acquire the necessary materials from the Onyxia’s Lair encounter. The good news for level 60 characters is that Nefarian has finally decided to grow some Mature Black Dragon Sinew, so interested players can complete the quest by picking that item up from him in Blackwing Lair.
So, this is great news for those who were still hoping to complete the quest chain and get their hands on that bow and quiver – I previously wrote about why you would want to get your hands on the quiver so I won’t get into it again.
For me one question remains however, since they have mentioned that they want pretty much all class-specific quests gone in Cataclysm and are removing other epic lvl60 questlines (such as Scepter of the Shifting Sands) will this questline be gone with patch 4.0.3 or is it staying indefinitely? WoW Insider writes about the change as well but there’s no further insight in their post, however among the comments I read about some things that make me realize what will happen…
The questline will be gone in 4.0.3.
Okay, I can’t be a 100% sure on this without a blue confirmation but here are my reasons for believing this:
- A lot of the zones were the demons are patrolling are being destroyed or changed around completly in such a way that they probably had to remove all the NPCs, mobs, etc and when they did that I seriously doubt they put these demons back in.
- The demons in this questline are bugged, the quests aren’t working as intended. Since they are reworking all of the lvl1-60 quest to be current and fully functional again, they would have to spend some extra time on this to make it work. Since other questlines similar to this one (Scepter of the Shifting Sands, Benediction) are going away, it seems likely this one is going too.
Having said that, I hope I’m wrong since I loved doing this quest myself and I think it’s something every hunter would enjoy. Unfortunately it was already bugged when I did it last year, some of the demons never changed form and just attacked me in their camouflaged forms. Which in some cases was a bit heartbreaking… Take a look at this picture:
So, in conclusion, I shall yet again urge you to complete this quest chain now! Since the opportunity to do so might soon be gone forever.
